The world reknowned Mexican painter known for her many portraits, self-portraits, and works inspired by the nature and artifacts of Mexico, Frida Kahlo was a Cancerian. Did you know that Frida employed a folk art style in her work to explore questions of identity, gender, class and race in Mexican society.

Artemisia Gentileschi

A truly inspirational woman, Artemisia Gentileschi is an important baroque painter who rose to prominence despite terrible hostilities towards female artists at her time. Artemisia Gentileschi is regarded as one of the most influential artists of the era in which she lived and her painting ‘Judith Slaying Holofernes’ is one of her most famous works that is still studied by students of painting.

Our very own, incredibly talented Santosh Maravi also joins this august company in July! Born on July 1, 1983, in central India, Santosh remains one of our absolute favourite artists of all time. His work with its messages related to change in our environment and the impact we as humans are having on all other life forms around us has been a continuous source of inspiration for us and many others who have embraced his work.
