Santosh Maravi is an emerging Gond artist, who apprenticed under Mayank Jangarh Shyam. We did a fascinating interview with him, which you can read here. This painting is titled “Bird and the elephants”.  The painting shows the camaraderie between creatures in a forest where elephant cubs help out a bird who has made its nest in a nearly dying tree. As the tree dies, the bird cries and the elephant cubs come to its rescue.
